Edward L. Goodman MBA CPH CBLP

I am a professional in the horticulture industry where I have vetted 15 years of experience in various capacities. I’ve worked on landscaping crews, and in retail nurseries. I was educated in hydroponic greenhouses, and certified organic land. I’ve worked in just about every niche of the green industry.

Currently I manage greenhouse with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Department of Parks and Recreation. I manage the cultivation of tens of thousands of plants a year, and provide quality ornamental annuals and herbaceous perennials for the Prince George’s County parks systems.

Professional Credentials

Maryland Nurserymen

    • In 1985, the Maryland Nurserymen’s Association began its Certified Professional Horticulturist program, a voluntary program for those desiring to demonstrate proficiency in horticulture. After meeting a combination of educational and work experiences, and studying a comprehensive manual that is the heart of the program, an applicant must pass a rigorous examination in order to be certified.

Level 2 CBLP

    • The Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional (CBLP) Certification is a new, voluntary credential system for professionals who design, install, and maintain sustainable landscapes. The credential training and examination are based on a core set of standards in sustainable landscaping emphasizing stormwater best management practices and conservation landscaping with native plants to benefit the environment.

    • SMADC is the go-to resource in Southern Maryland and beyond for farmers and producers who want to increase their potential and for consumers who want to connect with local farms and food. We are committed to expanding and promoting a viable and profitable agricultural farming community.

LEAD Alumni

    • The LEAD Maryland Fellowship Program, a University of Maryland Extension Signature Program, is provided through a collaborative effort between the LEAD Maryland Foundation and the University of Maryland Extension, along with many other organizations, businesses, and individuals that work to fund, plan, implement, and evaluate the program and its activities. LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to identifying and developing leadership to serve agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.
